Yufuin Onsen

A walkable hot-spring town at the foot of Mt. Yufu, with Kinrin Lake about 1.5 km from the station.

Yufuin works best as the first-night decompression stop after arrival. The official Kyushu tourism page describes it as highly walkable, with cafes, galleries, and day-use hot springs, while Lake Kinrin sits at the end of the main street. For Hong Kong arrivals landing around noon, the realistic goal is simply to drive in safely, soak once, and keep the evening light rather than chase too many extra stops.
